Job summary

Abbeyfield Living Society in Winnersh is seeking a Deputy Care Home Manager to lead and support a care team within a registered service. Based at Woodward Close, Winnersh, you will help oversee daily operations, ensure high-quality resident care, and support the General Manager.

This 40-hour week role offers a competitive £42,000 per year salary, with 31 days leave, pension and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or 3+ years in a similar management role within a registered service.
• Strong knowledge of the Health & Social Care Act 2009, Care Act 2014/2015, and related regulations.
• Ability to run daily home operations under the General Manager's direction.
• Passion for delivering high-quality care for older people.
• Proficient with IT systems, email and texting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor residents' nutritional and hydration needs.
• Lead staff training and appraisals.
• Deliver hands-on care when required.
• Create and manage risk assessments at strategic and operational levels.
• Communicate with the Manager and cover when needed.
• Ensure information is effectively shared with staff and clients.
• Be a professional role model in manners and customer service.
• Report maintenance needs and ensure follow-ups.

Job description

We are now looking for a dedicated Deputy Care Home Manager to support the team at Abbeyfield, Winnersh.

Role: Deputy Care Home Manager.

Location: Woodward Close, Winnersh, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG41 5NW.

Hours: Monday-Friday 08.00-16.30

Pay: £42,000 per annum.

Contract: 40 hours per week, with a 30 minute unpaid break per day.

The Role of Deputy Care Home Manager:

• Monitoring the resident’s nutritional and hydration needs
• Staff training
• Delivering hands-on care when required
• Create, manage and amend risk assessments, both at a strategic and operational level and to ensure that staff are following procedures
• Communicate on a regular basis with the Manager on events that occurred in their absence and stepping in to cover them where needed
• Ensure that key information is effectively communicated both within the own staff group and the client as required
• Act as a role model for all staff, demonstrating and ensuring professionalism, good manners, and customer service at all times
• Report to management on any items that need repair or maintenance and ensure these are followed up
• Staff supervision and appraisals.

Skills & Experience:

• You'll need a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role at management or senior level within a registered service.
• Strong working knowledge of the Heath and Social Care Act 2009 (regulated activities), CQC Registration Regulations 2009, Care Act 2014/2015.
• Ability to undertake day to day running of the home under the direction of the General Manager.
• Passionate about delivering high quality care for older people.
• Good with information technology; you'll need to use IT systems, e mail and text.
• Strong influencing and professional relationship building skills; ability to facilitate meetings or support groups.
• Strong people leadership and management skills, able to get the best out of teams.
• Experience in managing staffing budgets.
