Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 30 primary schools (19 with nurseries), and 2 standalone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, supports children with various physical, social, emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties. School sizes range from approximately 20 to over 1200 pupils, serving diverse catchments from rural to urban areas. We have a growing number of new build schools, with 13 primary schools and 1 secondary school constructed within the last 10 years, and more planned.

If appointed, employment is conditional on successful completion of pre-employment checks, including medical screening, two references (one from your current employer), verification of qualifications, and eligibility to work in the UK. Registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS) and a satisfactory PVG check for Regulated Work with Children are also required.

This position is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Applicants must not be barred from working with children. Successful candidates will need PVG Scheme membership, with costs met by the applicant, payable via salary deductions over several pay periods. Existing employees will have the costs covered by the Council.
