Depot Operations Lead

Job summary

PPG in Maidstone seeks a Depot Manager to run daily operations, lead the team, and ensure targets are met while maintaining safety and compliance. You will manage inventory, customer expectations, and processes across the depot to deliver reliable service.

The role requires proven leadership, experience in logistics/warehouse operations, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a safety-conscious environment. A strong driving license is required.

Qualifications

• Operational experience – ideally 5 years in paint/non-paint supply.
• Sales or customer management experience.
• Understanding of coatings business is preferable.
• People management qualification / previous experience.
• Stock processes / Inventory management.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Financial, Operational & EHS compliant.
• Computer literate.
• Warehousing (picking / packing).
• Planning / transport experience including route planning.
• EHS & Sustainability.
• Valid clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day depot operations and staffing.
• Builds Effective Teams and sets clear goals.
• Communicates roles and performance expectations.
• Ensure right mix of skills and leverage strengths.
• Monitor KPI performance and address underperformance.
• Manage inventory including slow/obsolete items.
• Ensure compliance with UK road laws and vehicle safety.
• Oversee driver behavior using in-vehicle telematics.
