Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a leading forklift hire company for a Depot Manager role in Hull. You will lead busy Hire, Service, Logistics and Warehouse teams, with full accountability for depot performance and customer service.

Working Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, you can expect a salary between £55,000 and £60,000, plus a company car and 25 days holiday (+ Bank Holidays). This hands-on leadership position offers autonomy and influence in daily operations and reporting.

• Solid industry knowledge (hire, plant, tools, or similar sectors preferred).

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day depot operations and drive high customer service standards.
• Manage Hire & Sales, Service, Logistics and Warehouse teams.
• Ensure depot procedures and systems are followed accurately.
• Coordinate with sales, logistics, accounts and procurement teams.
• Plan daily routes and fleet maintenance; manage holidays and staffing.
• Produce reports and maintain strong inter-department communication.
• Lead, motivate and support depot staff to meet objectives.

Depot Manager

Our client, a leading name in forklift hire, is seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead their busy and successful Hulloperation.

Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will have full responsibility for depot performance, overseeing Hire & Sales, Service, Logistics, and Warehouse teams. This is a hands-on leadership role with real autonomy and influence.

The Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the depot, ensuring high standards of customer service, operational efficiency, and team performance.

• Ensure customer enquiries are handled promptly and professionally (counter, phone, and email)
• Oversee customer contracts and ensure systems are accurate and up to date
• Ensure depot procedures, policies, and systems are followed consistently
• Drive strong communication between sales, logistics, accounts, and procurement teams
• Ensure efficient driver routing and daily planning
• Maintain company vans and fleet standards
• Ensure staff are trained, compliant, and professionally presented
• Lead, motivate, and manage depot teams day to day
• Manage holidays, uniforms, and staffing levels
• Ensure the depot is fully operational during business hours
• Take a hands-on approach when required to support customers and business objectives
• Produce reports in line with company requirements
• Maintain strong communication across departments
