Job Description

You will be accountable for the leadership and management of this ambient warehouse operation. The Depot Manager will encourage and motivate the team, ensuring best practice at all times. To be successful in this role it will be beneficial to have previous FMCG experience.

You will ensure that strategies and business plans are in place to achieve targets and drive business performance and growth whilst working towards KPI’s therefore strong business acumen is required.

Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00

Key responsibilities as a Depot Manager include:

  • Ensuring the smooth running of operations including financial management, performance management as well as health, safety & welfare
  • Providing strong visible leadership in order to ultimately manage all staff through performance management and training
  • Managing the product from start to finish whilst inside the depot
  • Measuring cases handled, labour turnover, customer service levels and profitability through continuous improvement in KPIs
  • Constantly reviewing, communicating and improving performance and customer expectations against targets achieved
  • Fully ensuring and leading on compliance of all aspects of health & safety and company policies and procedures
  • Actively involving the workforce through regular reviews, management meetings and Head Office reporting, and effectively communicating across all departments
  • Maintaining a high standard of repair and maintenance of both the fabric of the building and all equipment
Qualifications
  • Proven leadership qualities to enable you to manage all aspects of a busy FMCG warehouse
  • Good working knowledge of all relevant operational practices
  • The ability to bring about maximised depot financial performance
  • Effective communication skills with the personal motivation and confidence to have a positive impact within Great Bear as well as with clients
  • Skills to set clear objectives and to motivate your team to achieve them
  • The ability to work efficiently across the business and functional boundaries, being commercially focussed
  • The drive to be quality-orientated and customer-focussed
  • A genuine and effective team player approach
  • Experience of developing management teams within similar logistics operations would be desirable
