Job summary

Arriva Harlow Depot is seeking an experienced Assistant Engineering Manager to support the Engineering Manager in delivering an efficient operation. Focus areas include meeting targets, regulatory compliance, and achieving KPIs while maintaining budget and fleet reliability.

The role offers a 40-hour week, 55,000 GBP salary, 07:00–15:00 shifts, potential overtime, and occasional weekends. 25 days leave + 8 bank holidays with progression to Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Proven background in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles or machinery (bus/HGV preferred).
• Recognised apprenticeship or vocational qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering (or related degree).
• Strong health & safety knowledge and leadership by example.

Responsibilities

• Ensure depot security and safe working practices.
• Lead and motivate the team to maintain/repair vehicles to spec.
• Plan and allocate workload to meet service targets.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and quality procedures.
• Manage tools, parts, and equipment for the team.
• Record work and report to the Engineering Manager.
• Identify fleet reliability improvements and reduce breakdowns.
