Job summary

Oho Group is seeking a Deployed Software Engineer to join our London team on a hybrid basis. You’ll engage directly with customers, traveling to sites across the UK and internationally to deploy software and demonstrate real-world impact.

This role blends software, data, AI, sensors and autonomous systems, offering a unique early-career path with significant ownership and fast learning. You’ll work on real hardware, with real users, and you’ll see your solutions deployed in challenging

Qualifications

We're growing quickly and we're looking for a Deployed Software Engineer to join us at an early stage of that journey.

This is a particularly good role if you're an engineer early in your career who wants to learn quickly, take on responsibility and work on problems that are very different from building another SaaS product.

As a Deployed Software Engineer, you'll work directly with our customers.

That could mean spending time at their offices, travelling to testing sites or working alongside them in the field. You'll see how our technology is actually being used, understand the problems users are facing and then build software to solve them.

Early in your career, it's easy to become very good at one particular part of software engineering.

You'll be exposed to a wide range of technologies and problems — from software and databases to networking, AI/ML, robotics, autonomous systems and hardware.

You'll work alongside engineers with different specialisms and learn from people who are genuinely excellent at what they do.

You don't need to know everything when you join.

We care much more about how quickly you learn and how willing you are to get stuck into unfamiliar problems.

You'll have real responsibility early on.

You won't be treated as "the junior engineer".

We give people a huge amount of autonomy from day one. You'll be trusted to go into unfamiliar environments, understand what the customer needs and work out how to make our technology solve the problem.

You'll have support from experienced engineers around you, but you'll be encouraged to figure things out, make decisions and take ownership.

You'll build things that matter.

The problems we're solving aren't hypothetical.

Our technology is being built for demanding environments where software needs to work alongside people, hardware and autonomous systems.

That makes the engineering challenging — but it also means you can actually see the impact of what you've built.

You might spend one week writing software in the office and the next deploying it alongside a customer in the field.

That's a very different engineering career from most.

What you’ll bring

We're not looking for someone who has already done this job.

We're looking for a smart, curious engineer who wants to become exceptionally good at software and isn't afraid of getting outside their comfort zone.

You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or another technical/scientific subject
• A genuine enthusiasm for learning new technologies
• The ability to break down unfamiliar problems and figure things out
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with customers
• An interest in hardware, robotics, AI or autonomous systems
• A willingness to travel regularly and work on-site with customers

Experience with embedded systems, legacy software, SQL, machine learning or hardware is useful, but not expected.

We're much more interested in your potential than whether you've already ticked every box.

There is one important thing to understand about this role:

Travel is a significant part of the job.

You could be away from the London office for several days in a week, and there will be periods where you'll travel internationally for a couple of weeks at a time.
