Job summary

Meeveem Limited is seeking a Locum Dental Practitioner to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence at Pirbright Dental Centre in Woking, Surrey. This locum role is 18.5 hours per week, delivering a high standard of care to MoD personnel and supporting dental fitness.

The post requires full GDC registration, UK foundation training or equivalent, and current CPD with indemnity. Rates: PAYE £48.68 per hour (including holiday pay) or £55.98 for self-employed, with weekly payments and on-site

Qualifications

  • Fully registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) without restrictions.
  • Completed Foundation Training in Dentistry in the UK or evidence of at least 12 months post- Foundation training experience in a primary dental care setting.
  • Must hold indemnity insurance with a recognised dental defence organisation.
  • Evidence of clinical currency; minimum of 2 clinical sessions per week for last 15 months.
  • CPD including medical emergencies, safeguarding, disinfection, radiography and radiation protection.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of dental treatment and related admin duties to maintain oral health and operational fitness of MoD personnel.
  • Assist the Senior Dental Officer (SDO) when present, or operate independently to achieve dental fitness targets.
  • Ensure not less than 6.5 hours per day in 2 sessions are for direct patient contact.
  • Record all treatment on the electronic health record and relevant documents.

Job summary

We are looking for a Locum Dental Practitioner/Locum Dentist to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Pirbright Dental Centre, in Woking, Surrey.

This is a locum role (18.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Pay rates:

PAYE - £48.68 (£43.44 + £5.24 holiday pay) per hour

Self-employed - £55.98 per hour

Main duties of the job
Job description:
  • To work independently and to provide both a full range of dental treatment to maintain oral health and to undertake related general administrative duties where required to work towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of personnel for whom they are providing care for.
  • To assist the Senior Dental Officer (SDO), when present, or operate independently to achieve dental fitness targets, for all entitled personnel, as detailed in the SG Policy and Standards Document (P&SD).
  • To ensure that not less than 6.5 hours per day in 2 sessions are set aside for direct patient contact.
  • To ensure that all treatment is correctly recorded on the electronic health record and any relevant FMed documents.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Essential Requirements/ Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Fully registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) without restrictions.
  • Certified completion of Foundation Training in Dentistry in the UK, or have evidence of at least 12 months full-time postgraduate clinical experience derived in a primary dental care setting, or have qualified before foundation training became compulsory in the NHS.
  • Must hold valid suitable and appropriate indemnity insurance with a recognised dental defence organisation.
  • Must provide evidence of clinical currency in accordance with JSP 950 Leaflet 4-1-4 Returning to Clinical Practice, specifically a minimum of 2 clinical sessions per week over the last 15 months.
  • To have completed GDC highly recommended Continuing Professional Development (CPD) including medical emergencies, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, disinfection and decontamination, radiography and radiation protection.
  • To be trained and current in emergency and resuscitation procedures and have practised and tested these procedures at least annually in accordance with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines and JSP 950 Leaflet 4-6-1 DMS CPR Standards and Training.
  • Must have undertaken the additional health clearance checks for clinicians required to perform Exposure Prone Procedures (in accordance with the Department of Health policy entitled Health clearance for tuberculosis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV: New Healthcare Workers).
  • Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
