Job summary

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, through the Oxfordshire Community Dental Service in Witney, is seeking a Dental Officer to deliver routine and urgent NHS dental care to adults with special needs and paediatric patients across Oxfordshire. The role can be full or part-time (minimum 22.5 hours weekly) on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You will work in diverse settings including clinics, hospitals, residential homes and domiciliary visits, using local anaesthetic, sedation and GA.

Qualifications

• Primary Dental Qualification required.
• Registered with General Dental Council.
• Band A dentist competency expected.
• Willingness to undergo further training.
• Good IM&T knowledge including Microsoft Office and R4.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality treatment planning, preventive and urgent/routine NHS dental care for adult special care and paediatric patients.
• Manage day-to-day activities of the dental surgery with the team.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Dental Care Professionals per GDC regulations.
• Maintain accurate records and report to Business Services Authority and Trust directors/commissioners.
• Liaise with hospitals, primary care and local authorities to improve patient care.
• Participate in training, appraisal and clinical governance.
