Job summary

18 Week Support in Southampton is seeking an experienced Dental Nurse to support insourcing surgical lists across Southampton, helping deliver NHS waiting list initiatives. You will provide chairside and clerical support to dentists and oral/maxillofacial surgeons during dental procedures, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care.

The role includes helping with patient care pathways, preparing patients and rooms, and maintaining infection prevention and control.

Qualifications

• GDC registered Dental Nurse with a relevant dental nursing qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Recent NHS Dental Nursing experience, including at least 12 months in a substantive NHS role.
• Recent hands-on experience in oral surgery and/or tooth extractions.
• Experience working within a dental, oral surgery or maxillofacial setting.
• Good knowledge of infection prevention and control and GDC standards.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to patient safety, high-quality care and continuing professional development.

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Dental Nurses to support insourcing surgical lists across Southampton, helping to deliver NHS waiting list initiatives. The Dental Nurse will provide clinical and administrative support to dentists and oral/maxillofacial surgeons during surgical and dental procedures, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and high-quality care.

The role will involve supporting patient care pathways, providing chairside assistance, maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control, and assisting with surgical procedures including tooth extractions.
