Job summary

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 4 Dental Nurse to join the Restorative Department. The role involves flexible working across the Dental Service, based at Birmingham Dental Hospital and other sites as required.

You will provide chair side assistance, handle clerical duties, and help maintain high standards of patient care across clinics. Training and supervision of apprentices may be involved.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service.
• Carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.
• Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.
• Prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre and post operative instructions as required.
• Undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments and arrange any necessary repairs as required.
• Ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.
• Provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic sessions as required.
• Provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician
• Support the Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dental service.
• Support and supervise all Apprentice Dental Nurses and Undergraduates.
