Job description

A 25-week locum dental nurse assignment at HMS Nelson Dental Centre, placed by Military Medical Personnel for the Ministry of Defence. The work centres on chairside clinical support, instrument preparation and sterilisation, radiographs and patient records, with infection control throughout. It is 18.5 hours a week, treating service personnel on a military base. Fit depends on GDC registration and on holding the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

What the job involves

• Assist with clinical duties, including preparing and sterilising instruments, operating the dental computing system and processing radiographs


• Manage patient appointments and dental records, including documenting dental prosthetic appliances


• Follow infection control procedures and health and safety policies


• Assist in the central sterilisation area as required


• Ensure compliance with GDC standards and current legislation

Qualifications

• Completed relevant CPD, such as medical emergencies, safeguarding and radiography


• Current emergency and resuscitation certification


• Safeguarding Children and Adults Level 3 certification

Registration & licences

• Full registration with the General Dental Council


• Valid indemnity insurance with a recognised dental defence organisation

Experience

• Clinical currency of at least 2 clinical sessions a week over the last 15 months

Checks & eligibility

• Health clearance for exposure prone procedures (tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV)


• PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland) or Access NI certificate


• Right to work in the UK without restriction on hours


• Satisfactory compliance requirements for placement
