Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a dental nurse for a 17-week locum assignment at the RAF Lossiemouth Dental Centre. The role focuses on chairside clinical support, instrument sterilisation and managing dental records for service personnel, across a 37-hour week in a military setting.

Applicants must hold GDC registration, PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland) or NI access certificate, and have full right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of CPD such as medical emergencies, safeguarding and radiography.
• Current emergency and resuscitation certification.
• Safeguarding Children and Adults Level 3 certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical duties, including preparing and sterilising instruments, operating the dental computing system and processing radiographs.
• Manage patient appointments and dental records, including documenting dental prosthetic appliances.
• Follow infection control procedures and health and safety policies.
• Assist in the central sterilisation area as required.
• Ensure compliance with GDC standards and current legislation.

Job description

The work centres on chairside clinical support, instrument sterilisation and dental records for service personnel. The post is set at 37 hours a week within a military setting. Fit depends on current GDC registration and a Disclosure Scotland PVG membership or Northern Ireland access certificate, and visa sponsorship is not offered.

What’s required

Qualifications

• Completion of relevant CPD, such as medical emergencies, safeguarding and radiography

Registration & licences

• Full registration with the General Dental Council
• Valid indemnity insurance with a recognised dental defence organisation

Experience

• At least 2 clinical sessions a week over the last 15 months

Checks & eligibility

• Right to work in the UK without restriction on hours
• PVG membership (Disclosure Scotland) or a Northern Ireland access certificate
• Satisfactory compliance requirements before placement

Other

• Health clearance for exposure prone procedures (tuberculosis, hepatitis, HIV)
