Locum Democratic Services Officer – East of England, Local Authority – Rate DOE

Location: Hybrid – East of England, with regular evening meetings required on-site.

Duration: Maternity Cover – 9-month contract.

Rate: Dependent on experience (DOE).

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is delighted to be recruiting for a Locum Democratic Services Officer to join a well-regarded Local Authority in the East of England. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting democratic decision-making processes, providing essential services to elected members, and contributing to governance functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting the Council’s democratic decision-making processes, including servicing committees and supporting elected members.
  2. Attending and supporting regular evening meetings as required.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Proven ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  3. Previous experience in democratic services or information governance roles is desirable.
  4. Minute-taking experience is essential.
  5. Proficiency in IT systems is required, with knowledge of CMIS (Committee Management System) being an advantage.
  6. A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to the demands of the role.
  7. Engage in a varied and dynamic role within a supportive team environment.
