Job summary

Alzheimer's Research UK is seeking an Involvement and Engagement Officer to deliver the patient and public involvement strategy. You will coordinate lived experience volunteers, support engagement activities, and help develop standards that ensure meaningful involvement across ARUK.

Working in the Involvement & Engagement team within the Information and Involvement directorate, you will collaborate with researchers and fundraising colleagues to make dementia research accessible, plan online

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating or delivering patient and public involvement and/or public engagement.
• Knowledge of the spectrum of involvement approaches and methods.
• Experience in project management, overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience discussing health or research matters with the public.
• Experience building relationships with internal colleagues and external partners.
• Experience delivering training on public involvement or public engagement.
• Experience working with people affected by dementia and their families.
• Understanding of the medical research environment.
• Knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion principles in health inequalities.
• Experience in charity or fundraising environments.
• Experience managing volunteers.
• Experience using databases or CRM systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally for non-specialist audiences.
• Ability to communicate sensitively with people affected by dementia and their families.
• Ability to find creative solutions to complex problems.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Implement ARUK's public involvement and engagement strategy.
• Plan and deliver the Lived Experience Involvement Group activities and logistics.
• Facilitate involvement sessions and share insights with colleagues.
• Support recruitment of lived experience representatives, improving dementia representation.
• Maintain accurate records in line with ARUK policies.
• Develop and deliver training on engagement for staff and researchers.
• Collaborate with the Research Involvement Manager on projects.
• Champion public involvement across ARUK and support project integration.
• Evaluate the programme and propose new initiatives.
• Seek opportunities for public-facing activity related to dementia research.
