Job summary

Spire Homecare in Yeovil is looking for a Male Care Assistant to provide compassionate care to clients in their own homes. You will work morning, lunch and evening shifts, support with personal care, mobility, and wellbeing, and drive between clients using your own car with a UK license.

Training is provided and progression is possible. We value a friendly, patient-centred approach and commitment to high standards of dignity and independence for service users.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting individuals living with dementia is essential, including understanding their needs and compassionate, patient-centred care.
• UK Driving License (and car for driving between service users’ properties).
• Friendly, caring, and positive attitude.
• Applicant must be available from 07:00 on mornings to work.
• Work pattern will include Morning/Lunch/Evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assisting service users with all personal care needs including, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting needs.
• Assisting service users with mobility problems, promoting independent continence and use of aids.
• Ensure service users retain their dignity and individuality.
• Provide care for people who are dying or have progressive illnesses (end of life care).
• Engage in the promotion of mental and physical wellbeing.
• Read and write reports and take part in staff and service users’ meetings and in training activities as directed.
• When professionally trained, administer medications.
• To comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures at all times, which includes the service users' care plan, medication needs and the completion of accurate daily records (as per our policies and procedures).
• To report to the registered manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
• To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
• All staff are required to attend mandatory training where appropriate, including induction and National Vocational Qualifications or their equivalent.
• Identify and support appropriately service users with the capacity and those who lack capacity.
• Understand the requirement of the New Fundamental Standard Regulations 9 – 20, in relation to the Care Quality Commission Inspect regime.
• To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
