Job summary

Sainsbury's is seeking a delivery driver to operate a 3.5 tonne van, delivering a range of products to customers’ homes and ensuring on-time arrivals in good condition.

You will perform pre-trip checks, engage with customers positively, and use new technology to assist in day-to-day tasks. When not driving, you’ll support stock and store floor operations while learning products and promotions.

Qualifications

• Valid driving license and ability to drive a 3.5 tonne van.
• Friendly, professional approach with enthusiasm for helping customers.
• Willingness to learn new technology and adapt to varied locations.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment.
• Able to work as part of a team and independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver products to customers on time and in good condition.
• Carry out checks to keep the van clean, secure and roadworthy, ensuring safe deliveries.
• Assist customers and provide timely information about delays or changes to delivery times.
• Learn to use new technology and operate a large vehicle across diverse locations.
• When not driving, help in the stock room or shop floor to maintain smooth operations.
• Build knowledge about products, services and promotions to offer recommendations.

What you’ll be doing:

• Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver a variety of products to our customers doorsteps, on-time and in great condition
• Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting out onto the road to drive safely in a variety of locations and conditions
• Serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions and keeping them aware of any delays
• Confident in learning to use new technology to do your job brilliantly, comfortable driving a large vehicle in different locations from residential streets to country lanes
• When not on the road, you’ll help maintain a slick operation in the stock room or on the shop floor
• Build great knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations
