Build Recruitment Limited is seeking a Delivery Driver/Labourer to join a busy roofing contractor in East Sussex. The role blends roofing labouring with responsible transport of materials between suppliers, sites and the company yard.

Key duties include loading and unloading, driving a flatbed lorry, assisting roofers, and maintaining site safety and documentation. It is a full-time permanent position covering Sussex and surrounding areas, with a company vehicle provided.

Qualifications

• Valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle.
• Experience driving a flatbed or similar commercial vehicle.
• Desirable roofing, construction or labouring background.
• Physically capable of heavy lifting and outdoor work.
• Commitment to health and safety on site.

Responsibilities

• Assist roofers with day-to-day activities on site.
• Load, unload and move roofing materials safely.
• Prepare and maintain clean, safe work areas.
• Support site setup, distribution of materials and general labouring.
• Drive a flatbed lorry to transport materials and equipment.
• Collect materials from suppliers and deliver to projects.
• Secure loads and comply with transport regulations.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Complete delivery documentation and keep records.
• Follow health & safety procedures and site rules.

Are you an experienced labourer with commercial driving experience looking for a varied role within a growing roofing contractor?

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Roofing Labourer & Flatbed Lorry Driver to join a busy roofing team operating across East Sussex and surrounding areas. This is a hands‑on position combining roofing labouring duties with the safe transportation of materials and equipment between suppliers, sites, and the company yard.

The Role

• Assist roofers with day‑to‑day roofing and construction activities
• Load, unload and move roofing materials safely around site
• Prepare and clear work areas to maintain a safe working environment
• Support site setup, material distribution and general labouring duties
• Drive and operate a flatbed lorry to transport materials and equipment
• Collect materials from suppliers and deliver them to roofing projects
• Secure loads correctly and comply with all transport regulations
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report any defects
• Complete delivery documentation and maintain accurate records
• Follow all health & safety procedures and site regulations

What We're Looking For

• Valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle being driven
• Experience driving a flatbed lorry or similar commercial vehicle
• Previous roofing, construction or labouring experience desirable
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Comfortable working at height when required
• Strong understanding of health & safety practices
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
