Job summary

The Emerald Group is seeking a Managers-level pensions expert to work closely with clients, delivering defined benefit valuations and pension consulting services. You will lead engagements, manage stakeholder relationships, and drive process improvements while ensuring quality and financial discipline.

Qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent) with extensive pensions advisory experience, including M&A contexts, is required. Based in London/Manchester/Birmingham on a permanent basis.

Job description

They are looking for a talented and experienced Manager to join their team, who will be responsible for working closely with colleagues in the area of defined benefit pensions.

• Location: London/Manchester/Birmingham

Key Duties (Including but not limited to):

• Helping to develop junior colleagues, including delivering technical training, improving technical knowledge, and developing consulting skills.
• Lead contact with clients on key pensions engagements, with overall responsibility for stakeholder relationships.
• Contributing to developing streamlined and efficient procedures, whilst maintaining an absolute focus on quality.
• Strong financial management, setting and agreeing budgets for work, delivering to budgets and timely billing and debt collection
• Qualified actuary – FIA or equivalent
• Relevant experience working in pensions advisory at Manager level, at either an employee benefit consultancy or other Big 4 firm
• Technical knowledge of defined benefit pension scheme valuations, roll forward methodologies and actuarial techniques
• Experience of the pensions implications within an M&A context
