Job summary

The Emerald Group is seeking an experienced Manager to join our pensions advisory area in the UK. You will work closely with colleagues on defined benefit pension engagements, leading client relationships and overseeing quality and delivery across projects.

Applicants should be a qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent) with relevant experience in pensions advisory at a managerial level, and strong knowledge of DB valuations and UK pensions issues.

Qualifications

• Qualified actuary FIA or equivalent.
• Experience in pensions advisory at Manager level.
• Strong knowledge of defined benefit pension scheme valuations and actuarial techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead client relationships on key pensions engagements and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Develop junior colleagues through training and mentoring, improving technical knowledge and consulting skills.
• Contribute to streamlined procedures while maintaining a focus on quality and delivery.
• Oversee budgets: financial management, budgeting, billing, and debt collection to ensure profitability.
• Apply technical know-how in defined benefit valuations, roll-forward methodologies, and actuarial techniques.
• Maintain awareness of the wider UK pensions landscape and client needs.

Job description

They are looking for a talented and experienced Manager to join their team, who will be responsible for working closely with colleagues in the area of defined benefit pensions.

Key Duties (Including but not limited to):

• Helping to develop junior colleagues, including delivering technical training, improving technical knowledge, and developing consulting skills
• Lead contact with clients on key pensions engagements, with overall responsibility for stakeholder relationships
• Contributing to developing streamlined and efficient procedures, whilst maintaining an absolute focus on quality
• Strong financial management, setting and agreeing budgets for work, delivering to budgets and timely billing and debt collection
• Qualified actuary – FIA or equivalent
• Relevant experience working in pensions advisory at Manager level, at either an employee benefit consultancy or other Big 4 firm
• Technical knowledge of defined benefit pension scheme valuations, roll forward methodologies and actuarial techniques
• Understanding of the wider UK pensions landscape, and the issues facing their stakeholders
