Job summary

The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre is seeking a Project Engineer for defence research projects. The role is on-site, fixed-term until 31 March 2030, with SC security clearance required. Salary £32,080 – £36,636, progressing to £39,906 for outstanding contribution.

You will analyse manufacturing problems, develop innovative processes, and present results to stakeholders while coordinating with the Project Management team.

Qualifications

• Have a good honours degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Effective written and verbal communication; experience in report writing and delivering presentations.
• Be willing to work on defence projects and attain SC clearance.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software and NC machining hardware.
• Experience of working effectively in both small and large teams.
• Experience of performing experimental work.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex manufacturing and technical problems with focused, effective solutions.
• Research, analyse, and edit data for reports summarising tests and experiments.
• Set up equipment and materials for experiments to meet research objectives.
• Develop skills through on-the-job training to complete engineering tasks.
• Present data results to internal and external stakeholders professionally.
