Job summary

DWF is seeking a Solicitor or Associate for its Financial and Professional Risks team in Leeds or Manchester, to advise insurers and defend professionals in professional negligence matters. You would manage your own caseload and collaborate with one of 20+ senior team members supporting their files as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience handling Financial and Professional Risks or professional negligence claims.
• 1-5 years PQE in commercial litigation and professional negligence.
• We may consider NQ Solicitor, Trainee Solicitor or Paralegal with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Progress the defence of pre-action and litigated claims, liaising with clients and opponents.
• Carry out disclosure review, prepare costs budgets, instructions to counsel and experts.
• Legal research on liability and value of claims.
• Ensure compliance with court deadlines and client requirements.
• Prepare court documents including Claim Forms, Defences and Allocation Questionnaires.
• Review clients' documents and produce first draft reports and advices to clients.
• Build relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Meet time-recording target of 1,500 chargeable hours and engage in BD initiatives.
• Manage WIP and debt on files; raise invoices and ensure payments within terms.
• Develop technical and commercial knowledge through training.
• Demonstrate Winning Behaviours and CSR commitments.
