Job summary
ALTEN is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to lead the definition and development of complex defence systems across the product lifecycle. You will provide technical leadership, shape system-level solutions, and guide engineering teams through concept and development activities.
Location: Stevenage or Bristol with on-site 3 days per week and security clearance readiness. You will collaborate with stakeholders, mentor engineers, and drive engineering excellence across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
- Requires experience leading systems engineering activities across complex programmes.
- Strong ability to develop, manage, and trace requirements throughout the lifecycle.
- Experience with early-stage concept definition and trade studies.
Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering activities across concept and early lifecycle development.
- Define system solutions, requirements, and technical trade studies.
- Support technical decision-making and systems-level analysis.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand evolving operational requirements.
- Guide and mentor engineers within the wider systems team.
- Support design reviews and programme-level engineering activities.
