Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Systems Engineer in Dorset, UK. The role is onsite in the defence sector, working with customers to translate requirements into system architectures and verification strategies, spanning hardware, software, and mechanical teams.

The position is customer-facing and involves workshops, design reviews, and test readiness activities to ensure design maturity across lifecycle stages.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent practical experience in electronic, electrical or aerospace engineering.
• Experience of developing electrical or electronic equipment through the engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers and stakeholders to understand their operational, technical and business needs.
• Plan and lead requirements-capture meetings and technical workshops.
• Understand the customer's product, test objectives, operating environment, constraints and acceptance expectations.
• Develop system concepts and evaluate the feasibility of proposed solutions.
• Define functional and physical system architectures.
• Break down system requirements into hardware, software, mechanical and operational elements.
• Define and document internal and external interfaces.
• Ensure project progresses through technical gates and design reviews.
• Prepare for system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews and test-readiness reviews.
• Define evidence required to demonstrate design maturity at lifecycle stages.
• Develop the system verification and validation strategy.
• Define verification methods: analysis, inspection, demonstration and test.
