Job summary

Arguile is seeking an experienced Subcontract Manager to join its defence commercial team in a hybrid role based in Bristol or Barnstaple. You will own the commercial management of supplier and subcontractor relationships across major defence programmes, collaborating with project, technical and procurement teams to deliver contracts and manage commercial risk.

Key duties include negotiating subcontracts, managing terms, supporting make-vs-buy decisions, and developing Statements of Work with

Qualifications

• Significant experience in subcontract or contract management.
• Experience in UK MOD or Defence sector.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Familiar with standard forms of contract and public-sector procurement.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate subcontracts and flow-down requirements to support budgets and objectives.
• Manage contracts, subcontracts and service agreements to terms.
• Support make-vs-buy decisions and sourcing strategies.
• Develop Statements of Work with technical and project teams.
• Attend supplier meetings on-site and at supplier premises.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and compliance risks.
• Monitor supplier performance and address issues.
• Advise Project Managers on supplier performance and commercial best practice.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve commercial issues.
