Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc in Portsmouth is seeking a Software Engineer to deliver and deploy software solutions supporting Royal Navy Combat Systems under NCSISS. You will manage CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and maintain secure containerised environments, collaborating with defence customers and stakeholders.

The role requires a degree or equivalent experience and SC clearance eligibility. It is a 37-hour week at the Portsmouth site with three days on-site attendance.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Managing and configuring CI/CD pipelines
• Deploying and supporting containerised applications within secure environments
• Investigating and resolving deployment and infrastructure issues
• Developing automation solutions to improve delivery and operational efficiency
• Collaborating with QinetiQ, BAE Systems and MOD stakeholders across the NCSISS programme
• Producing technical documentation and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
• Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms
• Experience with Helm, Ansible and infrastructure automation
• Working knowledge of Docker and/or Podman
• Experience building, maintaining and supporting CI/CD pipelines
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
• Experience working within DevOps, Platform Engineering or Software Engineering environments
