Job summary

Red Sky Personnel Ltd is seeking a Project Accountant in Oxford to support the financial management of major defence programmes. You will collaborate with Programme Managers and senior leaders to oversee planning, forecasting, reporting, contract management and risk across the full project lifecycle.

You will lead financial integrity checks on offers, develop WBS and schedules, prepare EAC reports, monitor costs and support month-end close, SSRO audits and MoD procedures, while ensuring SAP data

Qualifications

• Experience in a financial controlling/project reporting environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience producing financial reports and procedures.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Good understanding of work package management and project controls.
• Knowledge of financial risk management principles.
• Structured, organised and methodical approach to planning and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Validate the financial integrity of customer offers with Senior Management.
• Develop WBS, project plans, work packages and schedules for proposals.
• Assist with annual operating plans, forecasts and budget updates.
• Monitor programme performance against budget, report variances and support corrective actions.
• Ensure programme costs, labour bookings and financial data are recorded and allocated.
• Prepare monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC) reports and group reviews.
• Ensure labour and subcontractor costs are correctly accounted for within programme financials.
• Support month-end close activities across programmes.
• Lead the finance element of SSRO audits and supplier reporting.
• Support statutory audit activities by answering programme-related queries.
• Assist with wider month-end activities including spares and training programmes.
• Act as the finance point of contact for programme-related queries.
• Provide financial guidance to delivery teams where appropriate.
• Monitor compliance with policies, controls and accounting standards.
• Maintain defence programme data within SAP and support reporting improvements.
