Job summary

Mace is seeking a Talented Senior Project Manager for a major Defence programme based in Gosport. You will command the delivery of high-profile construction and infrastructure projects, acting as a trusted adviser while leading multidisciplinary teams in a secure Defence environment.

Candidates must be eligible for security clearance (SC); existing SC clearance is highly desirable. You will mentor project managers, drive governance and assurance, and report to executive-level stakeholders on

Qualifications

• NEC4 accredited or able to demonstrate significant practical experience with NEC contracts.
• Experience delivering complex projects within large public sector organisations (Defence, security, infrastructure).
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with ability to influence at senior levels.
• Experience guiding governance, assurance and project controls on major programmes.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety, quality, programme and governance standards across project activities.
• Direct delivery of complex construction and infrastructure projects, owning performance and client outcomes.
• Manage senior stakeholder relationships across client, contractor and consultant organisations.
• Direct contractor activities, design coordination and issue resolution across technical and programme matters.
• Provide project reporting across cost, schedule, risk and governance to executive level updates.
• Oversee governance and assurance activities, including gateway reviews and approvals.
• Oversee project controls, financial management and risk management to stay aligned with objectives.
• Direct verification of outputs (financials, schedules, BIM/AIM, contractor deliverables).
• Develop business cases and key project documentation for approvals.
• Mentor and develop project professionals and PMO teams.
