Job summary

DB Defence is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production and assembly activities within a Defence environment. You’ll work with engineering, production and wider teams to solve technical challenges and improve processes for successful project delivery.

You will act as the technical link between Manufacturing, Assembly and Engineering, ensuring manufacturability, GD&T compliance and robust procedural guidance.

Qualifications

• Must hold NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or similar. Degree in Mechanical Engineering desirable.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods for rotating components (turning, boring, grinding, gear manufacture, milling).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, with GD&T understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to Manufacturing and Assembly teams to meet build quality and programme schedules.
• Act as the key communication link between Manufacturing, Assembly and Engineering, guiding manufacturability and tooling decisions.
• Interpret drawings and create manufacturing drawings, works orders and technical packs with accurate routings and QA requirements.
• Support PFMEA activities, process mapping, risk mitigation and the creation of manufacturing procedures while identifying bespoke tooling in line with safety regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes focusing on quality, cycle time and efficiency using metrology equipment.
