Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence in Portsmouth seeks a Project Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of an operational data support service for Navy Command. You will coordinate a skilled team, ensure priorities are clear, and keep the customer informed through plans, risks and performance updates.

The role requires SC clearance, proven defence/government project experience, and the ability to work from Portsdown Technology Park with occasional travel to UK sites.

Qualifications

• SC clearance currently held or obtainable before start.
• Experience managing projects, services or contracts in Defence/government/regulated environments.
• PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM PMQ or equivalent.
• Confident leadership of a multi-disciplinary team on customer premises.
• Experience with resource planning, recruitment support, onboarding or continuity planning.
• Clear, confident communication with customers and stakeholders.
• Practical risk and issue management with organized plans.
• Commercial awareness including change control and performance reporting.
• Able to work predominantly from Portsdown Technology Park, Portsmouth.

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery plan and ensure the team delivers to required standards and timescales.
• Act as main day-to-day customer contact with updates, reviews and issue management.
• Monitor service performance and address concerns before they escalate.
• Plan and maintain resource picture including staffing and clearances.
• Prepare performance updates and support formal reviews.
• Ensure documentation, information handling and handover are well controlled.
