Job summary

Independent Lives is seeking dedicated Support Workers to provide one-to-one care for a young woman with complex medical needs in her own home. The role requires personal care, clinical support, and the ability to drive and assist with a WAV vehicle during outings.

Shifts cover weekends and evenings with some day-time hours; full training is provided and a calm, caring approach is valued. This is a meaningful role within a supportive household environment.

Qualifications

• One-to-one care for a young woman with complex medical needs in her own home.
• In-home personal care and clinical tasks including monitoring and support.
• Willingness to drive and assist with medical equipment and daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, hygiene support and help with continence care.
• Administer epilepsy medication, including buccal Midazolam, and monitor for safety.
• Support PEG feeding and heat/presentation of puréed meals as needed.
• Operate suction equipment and assist with respiratory care using a PEP mask.
• Assist with mobility using hoists and manual handling.
• Drive wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) for outings and community activities.
• Support outings with a 2:1 caregiver ratio and engage in social activities.
• Maintain household tasks such as washing and ironing and keep the living area clean.
