Job description

About The Role

In your role as a Painter & Decorator at HC-One, you will undertake painting and decorating duties to present the homes to the highest standards, helping HC-One become the First Choice Care Home in the community. You will maintain a clean, safe, and homely environment to meet the needs of Residents and Colleagues. Flexibility and responsiveness are essential as the needs of the Homes change.

This full-time position will cover multiple care homes in the Birmingham area, so you must be able to drive; a shared company vehicle will be provided.

You will report immediately to the Home Manager or Person in Charge any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Resident, Colleague, yourself, or others. You must understand and ensure the implementation of the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy, along with Emergency and Fire procedures.

HC-One is looking for someone with effective engagement and communication skills with Residents, the Home Manager, and other colleagues. Your responsibilities include general painting and decorating throughout the Care Home, including making good any damage prior to decoration, wallpapering, and painting walls, ceilings, fixtures, and fittings. You will ensure all equipment is clean and well-maintained, and you will complete mandatory and specialist training as required to maintain professional knowledge and competence.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect and know the appropriate actions to take. Attending safeguarding training and undertaking additional training in related areas is required. You must be able to seek advice and report concerns, including escalation if necessary.

We’ll provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you will enjoy a variety of benefits supporting your well-being and career development, including:

  • Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications
  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Free uniform
  • A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
  • Company pension scheme
  • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • Group life assurance
  • Wagestream for flexible access to pay
  • Learning and development opportunities with support for qualifications
  • GP online service for you and your children under 16
  • Learning from experienced colleagues within an outstanding team
  • Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
  • Free Employee Assistance Programme for physical, mental, and financial support
  • Recognition schemes like ‘Kindness in Care’ and Long Service Awards
  • Refer a Friend scheme offering up to £1000 per referral

We are committed to inclusive working practices and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to join our HC-One family. We aim for a quick onboarding process from offer to start date.
