Visual Merchandiser (Birmingham)
Job Introduction
As a Visual Merchandiser you will:
- Perform floor walks each morning to check and maintain basic recovery standards and ensure actions are completed prior to store opening.
- Consider both internal and external customers in all activities, including department layout, merchandising, and product presentation, including styling and setting, while establishing standards and benchmarks against competitors.
- Be proactively involved in implementing themed installations within your departments, working within a close-knit cross-functional team.
- Work closely with key contacts in Buying & Merchandising and Retail Operations to agree on brand adjacencies and product layouts to maximize sales potential, and build understanding of standards and maintenance.
- Regularly perform comparative 'shops' of new and inspirational places to stay informed about competition, trends, and key brands.
- Have weekly updates with the Stock Control team, ensuring stock is returned, booked in, and communicated as needed.
- Maintain all vinyl signage and branding, including ordering, installation, and delivering consistent standards.
- Comply with Health & Safety standards, policies, and procedures, demonstrating good standards regarding tools, equipment, and environment.
A bit about you
- You are creative, with a background in Art as an advantage, passionate about design and visual displays, understanding their importance in retail.
- You are experienced, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with retail operations experience and exposure to VM through placements.
- You are well-informed, developing excellent product knowledge by following trends and monitoring competitors' activities.
- You are a great communicator, working with your team to deliver results and collaborating cross-functionally.
- You are service and experience-focused, translating creative understanding into practical solutions and displays to enhance customer experience.
- You are organized and proactive, able to prioritize tasks and plan for key events and launches, such as sales.
