Job summary

Scantec is seeking Decommissioning Operatives to support a project at Harwell, with the possibility to move onto a long-term assignment at AWE Aldermaston after the initial six months.

Work is Monday to Friday, roughly 8:00am to 5:00pm. The role pays £34 per hour PAYE with potential overtime. BPSS checks are required now and SC clearance for the AWE placement will follow.

Qualifications

• Valid CSCS card is required.
• NVQ, CPCS or NPORS qualification required.
• Willingness to undergo BPSS checks and progress to SC clearance for the AWE placement.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminating plant, equipment and facilities.
• Dismantling and size-reducing plant and equipment.
• Carrying out plant checks, routine maintenance and general housekeeping.
• Controlling, minimising and processing radioactive waste in line with client requirements.
• Preparing work areas, materials and equipment.
• Operating process plant and materials-handling equipment to support site activities.

Decommissioning Operatives - Harwell to AWE

Location: Harwell, Oxfordshire, with a move to AWE Aldermaston after 6 months

Contract Type: Contract

Duration: 6 months at Harwell, followed by a further 2 years at AWE

Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00am-5:00pm

Pay Rate: £34.00 per hour PAYE

Overtime: Potential overtime available - 1.5x on weekdays and 2x at weekends

Clearance: No existing clearance required to start. BPSS will be processed by the client, with SC clearance required for the subsequent AWE placement.
