Job summary

V.Group is seeking an Ordinary Seaman Trainee for a dry bulk carrier on a contract basis. The role reports to the Bosun and Supervising Officer and involves lookout/helmsman duties, deck maintenance, mooring support, and safety rounds while at sea.

You will assist in cargo-related tasks as required and contribute to safe ship operations, following instructions and maintaining disciplined watchkeeping. This trainee position offers hands-on exposure to shipboard operations and teamwork essential

• Comfortable following instructions and seeking clarification when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Performing lookout/helmsman duties on bridge watches.
• Carrying out maintenance work and other operational tasks as required.
• Assisting in mooring operations as required.
• Adopting safe working practices.
• Performing Safety & Security rounds as instructed by the Bosun/Supervising Officer.
• Responsible to Deck Officers for maintaining a safe deck watch and ensuring the vessel remains securely moored.
• Assisting in cargo operations (inc. tank cleaning, sweeping) as required by Chief Officer or Officer on Watch.
• Undertaking any other tasks as instructed by the Bosun/Supervising Officer.
