The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a connected team working and learning together.

  • Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
  • Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and internationally.
  • National Markets: We collaborate across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds to invest in key sectors and grow local economies.

The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assist, refinancing, and listing support. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, working with diverse clients and deals.

Our focus is on understanding historical tax issues, structuring transactions, and maximizing value throughout the investment cycle, often involving multiple countries, taxes, and work streams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver exceptional advice
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities through proposals and pitches
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Serve as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and continue learning
  • Prepare and oversee detailed UK and international tax advice
  • Analyze tax documents/data, highlight issues, and communicate their commercial impact
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership
The Person
  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
  • Analytical, curious, and commercially minded
  • Excellent project management skills, able to work in teams and take initiative
