The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. We have teams focused on clients in our three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a connected, national team working and learning together.

  • Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors such as sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
  • Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and cross-border.
  • National Markets: We work across the UK with mid-market corporates and PE funds to invest in key sectors, supporting local economic growth.

The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, serving diverse clients and deals.

We assist clients in understanding historical tax issues and structuring transactions, focusing on maximizing value throughout the investment cycle. Our work often involves advising on multiple countries, taxes, and work streams within the KPMG network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to provide exceptional advice
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, proposals, and pitches
  • Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory
  • Act as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal teams
  • Coach and develop colleagues, foster collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues
  • Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact
  • Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters
  • Strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a commercial approach
  • Excellent project management, teamwork, and initiative
