The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team that collaborates and learns together.

  • Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, real estate funds, and institutional investors such as sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
  • Corporates: We support FTSE 100 and 250 companies with strategic acquisitions, carve outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures both in the UK and cross-border.
  • National Markets: We work with mid-market corporates and PE funds across the UK, investing in key sectors to grow local economies.

The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, working with diverse clients and deals. We help clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions to maximize value, often involving advice across multiple countries, taxes, and work streams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver exceptional advice.
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, proposals, and pitches.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory.
  • Serve as a key contact for clients, legal advisers, and KPMG teams for effective delivery.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
  • Prepare or oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
  • Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlight key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
  • Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
  • Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.

The Person

  • Qualified CTA, ACA/CA, or equivalent.
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
  • Analytical, curious, and commercially minded.
  • Excellent project management skills, team-oriented, proactive.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships and lead teams.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
