Job Description:

The Role

Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team that works and learns together.

  • Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
  • Corporates: We collaborate with FTSE 100 and 250 companies, supporting strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures both in the UK and internationally.
  • National Markets: We serve mid-market corporates and PE funds across the UK, investing in key sectors to grow local economies.

The team offers advisory services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn, working with diverse clients and deals. We help clients understand historical tax issues and structure transactions to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving advice across multiple countries and taxes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex transactions, delivering exceptional advice and service.
  • Support the pursuit of new opportunities, including proposals and pitches.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships within Deal Advisory.
  • Act as a key KPMG contact for clients, legal advisers, and other teams to ensure effective delivery.
  • Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
  • Analyze tax-related documents/data, highlight key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK and OECD tax developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
  • Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.

The Person

  • Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent.
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
  • Analytical, curious, and commercially minded.
  • Excellent project management skills, able to work in teams and take initiative.
  • Proactive in developing business opportunities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to develop, coach, and lead colleagues.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

We support flexible working arrangements to help balance work and home demands. During recruitment, we can connect you with colleagues who work flexibly to share their experiences and our culture.
