Job summary

Phoenix Dyslexia Consulting Ltd is seeking qualified Specialist Support Teachers to assist d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing university students across the UK. You will provide tailored support to help them overcome barriers to learning and build independence in their studies.

Role combines remote and face-to-face delivery with flexible arrangements to match student needs, and requires a recognised teaching qualification plus Deaf Education credentials.

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification or equivalent professional education qualification.
• Recognised specialist qualification in Deaf Education (MQ, ToD or equivalent).
• Significant experience with d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.
• Experience supporting students in educational settings.
• Understanding the impact of deafness and hearing loss on learning.
• Knowledge of inclusive teaching and learning practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload.

Responsibilities

• Identify disability-related barriers to learning and develop strategies.
• Deliver personalised learning support for d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
• Support study skills, organisation and academic independence.
• Advise on accessible learning approaches and resources.
• Engage with lectures, seminars, labs and placements to aid inclusion.
• Liaise with university disability services where appropriate.
• Maintain professional support records and session reports.
• Deliver support remotely and/or face-to-face.
