Job summary

We are seeking a Band 8a Speech and Language Therapist to join South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust on a part-time basis (22.5 hours per week). The role focuses on Deaf adults with complex mental health needs, with emphasis on assessment, diagnosis and language interventions in BSL where possible.

Experience within acute or specialist settings is preferred, with strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and communities.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) level 3 or above is advantageous.
• Experience working with Deaf adults and understanding Deaf culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide tertiary SLT services to Deaf adults with mental health diagnoses.
• Assess and plan interventions for communication and language difficulties in Deaf clients.
• Collaborate with MDT and families to optimise communication outcomes.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and complex reports per Trust standards.
