Job summary

HelloKindred is seeking a Db2 System Programmer for a client in the Information Technology and Services sector. The role covers Db2 for z/OS across multiple mainframes and geographies, ensuring performance, integrity, maintenance, and security of the UK database estate.

Hybrid work arrangement: 3 days per week onsite. You will implement automation, support Db2 connections, and manage security, backups, and incident management while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Significant experience as a z/OS Systems Specialist with strong Db2 expertise.
Hands-on Db2 production support, software maintenance, performance tuning and application support.
Programming experience; COBOL or REXX is preferred.

Responsibilities

Install and test new versions of Db2 and provide maintenance for Db2 and tooling.
Support and manage distributed Db2 connections across mainframes and geographies.
Engineer automation to maintain stability and integrity of the CICS Db2 OLTP environment.
Plan and maintain databases, perform capacity planning, and monitor performance.
Ensure storage and archiving procedures function correctly and provide fast responses to front-end users.
Manage database security and disaster recovery, including backup and recovery testing.
Communicate with technical, application, and operations teams to maintain integrity and security.
Establish user requirements and monitor access and security.
Provide development and production support, including incident management.
Apply Agile practices and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and customers.
Stay updated on new technology and maintain continuing professional development.
Apply GDPR awareness to database activities.
