Job summary

Baltic Recruitment is recruiting a Permanent Quality Technician for a client in Darlaston. The role is day shift, supporting Quality, NPI, Engineering and Operations teams to ensure process stability and on-time customer quality.

You will perform First-Off, machine parameter checks, EOL audits and containment, with strong emphasis on problem solving on the shop floor. The successful candidate will have strong measurement skills, GD&T knowledge, and experience with CMM/metrology tools, plus

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of machining & assembly processes.
• Competent with gauges, micrometers, verniers, height gauges, fixtures and test benches.
• Basic to intermediate GD&T understanding.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and control plans.
• Exposure to CMM processes and metrology tools.
• Knowledge of Core Tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA).
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently on shift and make decisions.
• Strong communication with operational teams.
• Proactive risk identification and escalation.
• Experience in a manufacturing quality role.

Responsibilities

• First-Off inspections at startup, tool changes, and batch changes.
• Verify parts against drawings, control plans and CTQ/CSI features.
• Sign off First-Off docs and release machines to production.
• Escalate and stop production if criteria not met.
• Validate critical machine settings and parameters per standard work.
• Record parameter verifications and raise abnormalities.
• Conduct EOL audits and LPAs against customer standards.
• Identify recurring defects and review with QE/Production Supervisors.
• Isolate suspect product and maintain traceability.
• Participate in shift-level problem solving using 5-Why/Ishikawa/8D.
• Provide data and results to Engineering and Quality teams.
• Assist containment actions and verify corrective actions.
• Maintain 5S in quality stations and production areas.
• Support internal and external audits (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
