Job summary

Brellis Recruitment is supporting a leading automotive manufacturer in Wolverhampton for two Quality Technicians on a permanent basis. This hands-on quality role on the shop floor requires a manufacturing or engineering background and offers a clear path to progression to a more senior Technician level.

The role involves audits, adherence to SOPs, identifying non-conformances, metrology interpretation, and driving improvements through data and structured problem solving in a rotating shift

Qualifications

• ONC level in an engineering discipline; progression to HNC encouraged.
• Experience in a fast-moving manufacturing environment, ideally metal forming or fabrication.
• Knowledge of quality tools and techniques such as Ishikawa, Pareto charts, histograms, scatter diagrams.
• Numerical data handling with fault finding and problem solving.
• Good interpersonal and organisational skills; able to work in rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular product and process audits and act on findings.
• Ensure shift operators follow quality SOPs.
• Identify non-conformances and suggest improvements.
• Visually inspect products against defect catalogues and gauge instructions.
• Test products including torque, push-out and leak tests; assist lab testing.
• Interpret metrology reports.
• Raise quality alerts and SCARs.
• Communicate quality data to manufacturing teams and drive improvements.
• Support team-based problem solving; assist Quality Engineers.
• Deliver team briefs to individuals and small groups.

Salary: £30,436 basic, rising to approximately £35,000 with 15% shift allowance

Hours: 36.5 hours per week, rotating 3 shift pattern. (0600:1400, 1400:2200, 2200:0600 or 05:30-13:30, 13:30-21:30, 21:30-05:30 with early finish on a Friday)

Brellis Recruitment is supporting a leading automotive manufacturer with the recruitment of two Quality Technicians to join their site in Wolverhampton. This is a hands on quality role on the shop floor, ideal for someone with a manufacturing or engineering background who wants a stable career in a quality function.

What's on offer

• £30,436 basic salary (£16.04 per hour)
• 15% shift allowance on top, taking earnings to approximately £35,000
• 36.5 hours per week
• Rotating 3 shift pattern
• Permanent position with a clear route to progress to a more senior Technician level

The role

• Carry out regular product and process audits, feeding back findings and taking appropriate action
• Make sure shift operators follow the quality elements of the Standard Operating Procedures
• Identify product and process non-conformances and suggest improvements
• Visually inspect and check product against defect catalogues and gauge instructions, including weld inspection
• Carry out testing of product, including torque, push out and leak tests, and assist with laboratory testing
• Understand and interpret metrology reports
• Implement and close temporary containment activities, and sentence parts held in intervention bins
• Raise quality alerts and supplier corrective action requests (SCARs)
• Communicate quality data to the manufacturing teams and help drive improvements
• Support team based problem solving using structured techniques
• Support the Quality Engineers in resolving customer and internal concerns
• Deliver team briefs to individuals and small groups

About you

• Ideally educated to a ONC level in an engineering related discipline, and willing to progress to HNC (a recognised apprenticeship is ideal)
• Experience in a quality function within a fast moving manufacturing environment, ideally metal forming or fabrication
• Good working knowledge of basic quality tools and techniques, such as Ishikawa, Pareto charts, histograms and scatter diagrams
• Comfortable with numerical data, with a good eye for fault finding and problem solving
• Confident, self motivated and proactive, with good interpersonal and organisational skills
• Able to cope with the pressures of a demanding manufacturing environment and willing to work a rotating 3 shift pattern
