Job summary

Novax Recruitment Group is seeking a Deputy Works Manager for a leading structural steel fabrication operation in West Yorkshire. You will work alongside the Works Manager to run the factory floor, supervise day-shift production teams and ensure output, quality and safety standards are met.

You will drive production efficiency, coordinate labour, machinery and materials, manage attendance and performance, and help deliver improvements that keep production on track for major UK projects.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising teams in production, manufacturing, fabrication or engineering.
• Practical understanding of production processes, workflow and efficiency.
• Experience maintaining health and safety standards in factory/workshop settings.
• Ability to address performance and conduct issues professionally and decisively.
• Experience in structural steelwork, steel fabrication or heavy engineering.
• Experience coordinating labour, machinery and materials to meet production needs.
• Ambition to progress into senior works/operations management.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-shift production teams, maintaining output, quality and safety standards.
• Drive production efficiency by coordinating labour, machinery and materials.
• Manage attendance, performance and conduct with clear expectations.
• Maintain a safe working environment and ensure procedures are followed.
• Coordinate with other departments, subcontractors and suppliers to keep work flowing.
• Support the Works Manager with production reporting and improvement initiatives.
