Job summary

FCC Environment in Lincoln invites applications for a Day Operator to support safe, compliant operation of weighbridge, cranes, tipping hall and ash loading at the Lincoln Energy from Waste Plant. The role is full-time with a rolling Monday–Friday rota averaging 4 days per week.

You will operate mobile plant, assist with traffic management, and maintain high housekeeping standards while ensuring loads are weighed, recorded and dispatched in line with Duty of Care and FCC policies.

Qualifications

• The ability to operate overhead cranes, front-loader machinery, forklift trucks and a weighbridge, although training will be provided.
• An understanding of Health and Safety and environmental legislation.
• An understanding of safe and efficient traffic management within a busy environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with a range of computer applications.
• A flexible approach and willingness to work across a wide range of operational areas.
• The ability to work independently, take responsibility and respond effectively in changing situations.
• A strong work ethic, good attention to detail and a commitment to safe working.
• A willingness to complete all required training, competency modules and relevant vehicle licences.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring activities within the tipping hall and ash hall are carried out safely and in line with FCC procedures and Health and Safety requirements.
• Assisting with the coordination of vehicles delivering or collecting materials and products from the site.
• Operating the weighbridge in accordance with Duty of Care regulations, FCC policies and the requirements of Lincolnshire County Council.
• Operating overhead cranes, front-loader machinery, road sweepers, forklift trucks and other site machinery.
• Ensuring loads are recorded, weighed and dispatched effectively.
• Carrying out random inspections of delivered waste and reporting any non-conformances.
• Completing daily machinery checks and reporting any defects through the appropriate system.
• Ensuring high standards of housekeeping are maintained.
• Carrying out environmental monitoring checks and reporting any actual or potential environmental impacts.
• Supporting the Operations Team Leader with internal and external reporting.
• Taking part in team briefings and ensuring effective shift handovers.
• Providing cover for other team members and moving between tasks when required.
