Job summary

NHS Highland in Caithness is seeking a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join the Surgical Suite Day Case Unit on a full-time basis. The role covers day-case/general surgery pathways across rural hospital services, requiring good communication and teamwork to maintain high standards of patient care.

The successful applicant will work Monday to Friday (36 hours) with flexible working options, and have the opportunity to develop skills within ward care and a supportive local team.

Qualifications

• SCQF level 6 or equivalent training/experience required.
• Band 3 or Band 2 HCSW considered with appropriate evidence.
• Experience in ward care desirable and willingness to develop day-case nursing pathways.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and high-quality day case service across the Surgical Suite.
• Support elective general surgery, cataracts, gynaecology, endoscopy and related pathways.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork in a rural general hospital setting.
