Job description

Location: Acton, Ealing, Greater London, United Kingdom

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on a 24x7x365 rotating shift pattern (4 days on / 4 days off, 4 nights on / 4 nights off); perform change control and incident management; maintain accurate tracking of all Data Centre assets and inventory; supervise and escort third-party vendors as required; plan and carry out installation, relocation, and decommissioning of IT hardware and network equipment in line with Data Centre standards; manage structured cabling and physical infrastructure across the Data Centre; ensure all work is completed in line with agreed SLAs; update documentation and systems regularly to maintain accurate records; comply with health and safety policies, quality standards, and site-specific security procedures.

Daily Operations and Projects:

  • Maintain and utilise Data Centre toolsets to support efficient operations; oversee Data Centre governance and ensure high standards are upheld; collaborate with facilities providers to optimise energy efficiency; support the daily running of the Data Centre, including installations, changes, and maintenance; participate in service improvement initiatives and major infrastructure projects, including power system upgrades and replacements; conduct basic server configuration (IDRAC, iLO); perform hands-on tasks such as racking, stacking, patching, and cable management; identify and troubleshoot faults, escalating when necessary; manage complex inter-rack and inter-room cabling to support reliable IT and end-user connectivity.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Prior experience working in high-risk environments and data centres; knowledge of DCIM tools and standards (desirable); familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy (desirable); strong attention to detail and a proactive approach; solid understanding of infrastructure technologies and networking concepts; proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT service management tools; a dependable team player with the ability to work independently and under pressure; flexible with regard to shift work; excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels; strong organisational and administrative abilities.
