Responsibilities

• Diriger la migration de MariaDB/MySQL vers Azure SQL Server.
• Optimiser la sécurité, le patching, et la surveillance des performances des bases de données.
• Collaborer avec les équipes de développement pour assurer l'intégration correcte des bases de données.

Database Administrator | MariaDB/MySQL, to Azure SQL migration| FinTech Software Company

• £500 – £550 a day
• Inside IR35
• Remote working (travelling distance to London)
• 3 month contract (with possible extension)

Our client is a globally respected organisation whose products underpin the pricing infrastructure for key financial markets. They are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to take full ownership of a business-critical database environment. This is a hands-on role leading the migration of a legacy Linux-hosted database into a modern Azure SQL platform, supporting streaming and analytics products used worldwide.

You’re a seasoned DBA who thrives in taking full control of a database estate. You’ve migrated databases before, ideally from Linux-hosted systems to cloud platforms and know how to tune for both performance and security.

Key skills:

• MySQL or MariaDB
• SQL Server / Azure SQL Database environments
• Database migrations to cloud (Azure SQL preferred)
• Comfortable with Linux environments and managing VMs
• Azure preferred but AWS or GCP experience also welcomed
• Understanding of cloud-native database patterns, monitoring, and tuning
• Confident working solo as the go-to DBA

This is a rare opportunity to be the first dedicated DBA in a company whose global product suite is undergoing a major modernisation push. You’ll shape and secure a critical data platform from day one, with autonomy and influence in a high-performing team.

Projects you’ll work on:

• Lead the migration from MariaDB/MySQL (on Linux VMs) to Azure SQL Server (PaaS)
• Take responsibility for the database in Dev, UAT, and Prod environments
• Define security, patching, tuning, and performance monitoring processes
• Optimise schema and structure to support scalable analytics workloads
• Collaborate with Dev and SRE teams who currently manage DBs at arm’s length
• Build tooling and automation where possible to simplify ongoing operations
