Job summary

Billigence, a boutique data consultancy, is seeking an experienced Data Security Consultant / Security Lead to join a client’s data security transformation programme in London. This hands-on leadership role will have you leading an 8-person team and collaborating with senior stakeholders to strengthen security, privacy and governance across data assets.

You will drive data protection, policy development and risk management while embedding robust security practices throughout the organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in data security and data governance.
• Experience leading security/data teams of ~8+ people.
• Strong understanding of PII, sensitive data, and data classification.
• GDPR and data privacy knowledge.
• Ability to identify and manage security and privacy risks.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage an 8-person Data Security team.
• Set priorities, allocate work and coordinate team delivery.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to team members.
• Act as a senior escalation point for Data Security matters.
• Lead data security workstreams and ensure delivery against programme objectives.
• Work with business, security, data, privacy and technology stakeholders.
• Develop and implement Data Security and Governance frameworks.
• Define and improve data security policies, standards and controls.
• Identify and classify PII and sensitive data.
• Support data access and security governance.
• Identify security and privacy risks and drive remediation.
• Support GDPR, privacy and security assessments.
• Work with technical teams to understand data flows and how sensitive data is processed.
• Work with Data Owners and Data Stewards to improve security and governance maturity.
• Run workshops and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Produce security documentation, processes and operating procedures.
• Help embed strong Data Security, Privacy and Governance practices across the organisation.
